Description

The skyrocketing volume of medical imaging data and need to better manage medical images is becoming imperative for healthcare providers. The collaborative HIMSS-SIIM Enterprise Imaging Workgroup de?nes enterprise imaging as “a set of strategies, initiatives, and work?ows implemented across a healthcare enterprise to consistently and optimally capture, index, manage, store, distribute, view, exchange, and analyze all clinical imaging and multimedia content to enhance the electronic health record."

This study discusses the challenges healthcare providers face in the medical imaging industry and the imaging IT companies that are trying to circumvent those challenges with their innovative enterprise cloud imaging informatics solutions. Radiologist burnout, burden on IT teams, cyberattacks, asset optimization, and cost benefits are some of the major concerns that drive healthcare providers to select the most apt imaging solution and services vendors.

Hospitals and health systems are facing other challenges, such as siloed imaging data, complex and inefficient workflows, a range of disparate and often legacy systems, and the need to strike a delicate balance between departmental needs and enterprise goals. As consolidation within the healthcare industry intensi?es, hospitals and healthcare systems require new, more comprehensive enterprise imaging approaches that better address growth and scalability challenges while incorporating more ?exibility and adaptability to each organization’s unique scenarios. To circumvent these challenges, some imaging IT companies have introduced a unified solution as an enterprise imaging strategy, though this approach remains relatively nascent.

Frost & Sullivan analyzes numerous companies in an industry. Those selected for further analysis based on their leadership or other distinctions are benchmarked across 10 Growth and Innovation criteria to reveal their position on the Frost Radar™. The publication presents competitive profiles of each company on the Frost Radar™ considering their strengths and the opportunities that best fit those strengths.
