Description

This Frost & Sullivan study presents an assessment of the current status and the future prospects of the global industrial coatings market. It takes into account the volumes and the revenue generated from industrial coatings, including metal can coatings, coil coatings, agricultural and construction equipment (ACME), and general industrial (GI) coatings from 2018 to 2028. Revenue is recorded at the formulated coatings level.
The key chemistries used on these substrates are discussed in detail, and the dynamics between solvent-borne, water-borne, powder, and
UV-cured coatings are also analyzed. Regional trends and dynamics across the 4 key geographies of the Americas; Europe; Asia-Pacific; and the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia (MEASA) have been discussed. Key application segments for each of the market segments are also examined.

The industrial coatings market is experiencing significant growth due to the pent-up demand from end industries. End industries such as automotive, appliances, ACME, and industrial manufacturing witnessed a sharp decline in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However,
quick market recovery due to vaccination drives and booster administrations have resulted in pent-up demand from these industries, which has positively impacted coating demand. Building and construction (B&C) and food and beverage (F&B) cans registered strong growth even during the pandemic, presenting robust growth opportunities for industrial coatings.

The transition from traditional solvent-borne coatings to low-VOC formulations such as high-solid solvent-borne, water-borne, and powder
coatings has remained moderate in the industrial coatings segments when compared to other coatings segments such as automotive and decorative coatings. This can be largely attributed to the less-stringent regulatory push along with price-sensitive customers in industrial markets. There is a growing focus on improving functional attributes and coating performance, especially in the ACME segment where OEM approvals and specifications remain crucial. Supply chain disruptions in the global chemicals landscape, which have resulted in high raw material prices, present significant challenges to coating formulators, thereby increasing the price of industrial coatings.

Key Issues Addressed:

  • At what stage of the growth lifecycle is the market, and what are the key growth drivers during the forecast period?
  • What are the growth opportunities in the global industrial coatings market?
  • How is the regulatory scenario expected to impact the different market segments?
  • What are the key technological developments observed across major segments?
  • What are the competitive factors impacting the market? Which companies are expected to lead the market in future?
