Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand Car Parc Database is an excel based study which presents trends in the total car parc in the 3 countries for 2010-2022. With several factors supporting automotive industry growth, ASEAN has emerged as one of the largest car markets globally. This study indicates that ASEAN car parc is expected to see a positive growth during the forecast period of 2018 -2022 led by key car markets in the region including Indonesia, Thailand, and Malaysia. The vehicle parc in ASEAN is expected to go up from 29 million units in 2016 to 33 million units in 2022. While Indonesia is expected to see the highest growth in the ASEAN region witnessing a vehicle parc of 11 million units in 2022, Thailand is expected to remain the country with the highest Vehicle Parc in ASEAN between 2018 and 2022.

This study presents in detail the workings and calculations for each of the countries in ASEAN which have been used to arrive at this statistical database. The study includes separate worksheets for executive summary, ASEAN Vehicle Parc, Malaysia Vehicle Parc, Malaysia Input Data, Indonesia Vehicle Parc, Indonesia Input Data, Thailand Vehicle Parc, and Thailand Input Data. The Input Data worksheet elaborates the method of arriving at the numbers for the database. It includes New Vehicle Sales (Units) by segments such as segments A, B, C, D, E-H, SUV, MPV and Pickups for Malaysia, Segments such as Sedans <1500 cc, Sedans 1500-3000 cc, Sedans > 3000 cc, 4x2, 4x4 and Pickups for Indonesia and Passenger car segments such as 650-1500 cc, 1501-1800 cc, 1801- 2000 cc, 2001 - 2500 cc, 2501-3000 cc, > 3000 cc and Pickups in Thailand. The input data worksheet also includes data on New Vehicle Sales (Y-o-Y Growth), Registered Cars of Pre-2000 Vintage, Unit Sales Forecast by Vehicle Segment. In addition to this there are the car Parc worksheets which elaborate on Attrition Rate Per Annum and Cumulative Attrition which is used to calculate the Vehicle Parc - Passenger Cars and Vehicle Parc - Pickups for Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand. In 2017, the B and C segment cars together grossed highest sale units in Malaysia followed A segment. In Indonesia, the 4x2 Vehicle Segment continues to record highest sale units in 2017. In Thailand, which is the traditional pickup haven, pickups continue to have the highest vehicle parc followed by compact segment cars known as eco cars which have gained recent popularity.
